OUTFIT no.3 : Isaac's

Hey!

Just wanted to share with you my outfit I wore out for drinks the other night with my old work friends at Isaac's on the Quay. Apart from the shoes the whole outfit cost around £8! Please excuse my face and dodgy photography - my mum is not the best behind the camera haha.

Cut out oversized top - Charity shop £1.75
Clutch bag - charity shop £2
Skort - ebay £3.99
Shoes - Office £58

I felt really comfortable in this outfit, the shorts are a really flattering fit; I wasn't worried about sucking my tummy in or VPL or anything like that which was a lovely change. It was so good to wear these heels again, the colour makes me so happy!

OUTFIT no.2 : Heatwave

Hey!
How amazing has this weather been? Its been so hot where I am I've spent the whole weekend tanning and I'm proud to say i have tan lines! Woo!
I am loving white at the moment so so so much! These shoes are new, as is the bag. I wasn't sure I would keep the bag but actually it goes with quite a lot and is sooo bright. I wore it to a 21st on Saturday night and everyone was like woaaahhhhh so bright. So I'll probably keep it for that reason! You can't go wrong with neon, white and a tan this summer!

necklace - ebay
mesh crop top - New Look (sale/diy)
skirt - Boohoo
neon bag - TK Maxx
heels - ebay
lips - MUA Power Pout in Justify under Barry M Lip Paint 154
nails - OPI Nail Envy matte
earrings - Spangle
tan - NATURAL (for once)

This is the kind of outfit I would love to wear on a night out! White is quite brave, also its impossible to keep it clean, but I think its so worth the risk as it looks so clean and bright. And I'm converted to white high heels, after thinking they were for strippers for as long as I can remember. These are an identical copy of a pair called Oxygen from Office which were around £65 but now sold out. Bargain! They also come in black which would go with loads of stuff.

In other news I had my taster day at college today for foundation diploma in Art and Design, and had a really really good time. Met some lovely people and did a fun painting task. Feeling so positive now got lots to look forward to! I also managed to get tickets to see Arctic Monkeys (my all time favourite band EVER) in October at Earls Court and I still haven't come down from that high! Life is spectacular!

Thanks for reading, lots of love!

OUTFIT no.1: white skort, BOY London crop and New Balance

Hey!
Now I know this is meant to be a charity shop and craft type of blog, but I havent been doing a lot of DIYing lately- been very lazy. So I thought I would share a little style/outfit post with you.  The skort and trainers were new additions today so I was really keen to get them on and make some outfits!

New Balance - Office (not online yet)
Skort - ebay here here
BOY crop - ebay
necklace - diy post here
Nail varnish - Maybelline Colorshow in Urban Coral
Lips - Barry M 154 (I think)

So strange for me to be in proper trainers i.e. not vans/converse. Feel like I should be going for a jog... or not haha. Got these today from my old haunt Office. So unbelievably comfy and I love the colour pop.
So so so in love with this skort- a cheaper version of the sell out Zara one which are going on ebay now for like £50 (WUT!). This cost under £7 and arrived so quickly considering it was from China. Just ordered it in black too! The quality isn't great as you'd expect but it does the job and I LOVE IT. Great for day time or night time.
The BOY top I got a while ago from eBay before everyone and their mum had one. I had to cut it to a crop because I got hair dye on it- the fate of many of my clothes D: Very much over the whole BOY trend but I whip it out every now again. I'm loving the white on white trend at the moment! So hot for summer.

New shoes

I have been very naughty recently- four new pairs of heels in two weeks can't really be justified especially when I don't have many occasions to wear them! But in my defense these weren't expensive.

Far left pairs - Primark £12
Blue ones - Office £58
Far right - ebay £13.41

These Primark ones are absolutely stunning! I've seen so many shoes in this style about at the moment in River Island, ASOS, Topshop. Office etc, but these ones were only £12! An absolute steal. So naturally I got two colours. The red pair look really pale in the photos but they are a bright bright lipstick red/coral. These are actually really comfortable and easy to walk in because of the straps.

The blue ones were my last staff discount purchase from Office *sob* I got 45% off these so they were pretty cheap. They are made from the most gorgeous electric blue suede and lined with leather so super comfy and sort of mold to your feet. I think they are such a statement shoe and I never thought I would, but I love the pointy toe.

The last pair are a bit of a wild card but I fell in love with the 'bis un bout' Louboutins worn by Kim K, Rihanna etc and these were a very cheap knock off from China. These are a lot lower than the 5 inch Louboutins and I don't like the patent toe caps as much as the suede of the Louboutins, but for just over a tenner I can't really complain. If you buy these maybe go a size up because I'm a 3-4 and I got a 4 and they are tiny!!

I think it's crazy how much my style has changed over the last few years. I used to be only interested in heels that were about 6 inches high with a huge platform. The times I have fallen flat on my face/ended up going barefoot and getting stuck to night club floors/getting glass embedded in my feet, it just isn't worth it!

Anyway I hope you like the shoes I got! Have you seen those in Primark? Definitely grab them if you do! Hopefully I will do a post soon of how I style some of these babies.

Thanks for reading :) I really appreciate every page view and follower.  I keep changing bits of my blog everyday from font to pictures to colours, so please bare with me haha. Its definitely a work in progress!

DIY 80s vintage dotty dress transformation

Hey!
Two posts in one day! I don't know what's happened to me haha! This is just to show you the vintage dress I changed and basically made into a mini length. I bought this in a charity shop and it was enormous as you can see from the pictures! I fell in love with the navy dotty print and the wide lepels. This just made me think of Princess Diana, and straw boater hats.
Here's what it looked like before I took my scissors to it:
Truly hideous and I do question why I put photos this unflattering on the internet haha!

So I began by turning it up to a shorter, more wearable length. I threw out the original belt, but surprised myself by actually keeping the shoulder pads in; normally they are the first things to go but I didn't think they were too extreme this time. I then just took it in at the sides and lost about 4 inches off each side. I didn't bother with darts because I wanted it to still be slightly loose. Lastly I cut the sleeves shorter and rolled up and sewed on my machine.
I'm quite pleased with it, its not my favourite dress ever, just something about it I'm not happy with..? Maybe I'll come back to it at some point and do more to it. I definitely like it more than before though that's for sure!

And here's the finished result:

DIY Vintage Lilac Jumpsuit

Hello!
I have been meaning to do this post for so long, because I have finally finished altering my vintage handmade jumpsuit i got from a charity shop. This beauty cost me £3 from a charity shop and I discovered it was handmade and hand sewn and finished in some parts. Although it was huge and kinda ridiculous I couldn't leave it, and its shoulder pads, behind!
So this is what it looked like before I changed it: (awful photo in many ways, sorry!)

And here's what it looked like after:

Breezie wanted to join in

 (LOL)

(watch - Marc by Marc Jacobs, heels - Office sale, ring - craft fayre)

Here's what I did:
  1. Removed shoulder pads and moved shoulders inwards
  2. Tightened waist elastic
  3. Took legs in and rolled up
  4. Changed buttons from light blue (?) to lilac
  5. Rolled up sleeves

I love this jumpsuit so much!! I think it would work on a night out with heels or in the day with white low converse.
I think I love the scallop detail along the pockets and the neckline the most.

Let me know what you think, and I hope you like how the blog is shaping out so far.
I bought a vintage size 16 dress today for my next project. Cant wait to do something with it :)

Office Spring Summer Top Picks

Hello,
So I thought I would do my first proper post on the shoes I'm loving from Office Shoes at the moment. I have worked there on and off for 2 years and sadly Ipswich is a small branch so we never seem to get the really good stuff in.

Spring Summer Lookbook

Here's my top picks of heels, mid-heels and sandals.

HEELS

Left to right: Oscar £60, Octavian Gladiator £60, Oxygen £65, Oscar £60

I LOVE the Oscar heels. I am definitely going to order a pair I just can't choose between the tan and black. I love gladiator style heels and I always find an ankle strap makes heels so much easier to walk in; I have a tendancy to just walk out of shoes. I would rock these, and Octavian Gladiators, with boyfriend fit light blue jeans or vintage 501 levis.
Oxygen is a style I wouldn't normally go for. Very grown up and lady like especially with the pointy toe. But I'm loving the trend for simple, lower heeled shoes with an ankle strap at the moment. Primark had some great ones in recently for £12. I know monochrome is huge at the moment and they also do these in white, but I just can't bring myself to wear white heels. It just is so not me. When I think of white heels I just think of a poledancer. Hoping someday I will find a pair of shoes that will change my mind on these, because I really want to love this trend.

MID HEELS

L to r: Fantasia £62, Faculty £55, Fundamental £45, Fainthearted £48
I tried Fantasia on in store and I loved them but they were really slippery at the back, but I think a smaller size would have been too small! I would wear these with rolled up jeans and also tights- they are really versatile. Its funny how much my taste has changed, a year ago I probably would have hated all of these. I think my favourite are Faculty. They are rose gold *swoon*. Not sure how I'd wear these but anything gold and shiny and slightly tacky and I'm there.

SANDALS

L to r: Icarus £50, Impatient £40,  Iron Lady £55, Juju Babe £25
Can you see a pattern developing? I think there is nothing better than a gladiator style sandal. They can just make such a huge difference to an outfit and add another dimension. The jelly shoes are a bit of a joke but I do love the copper colour. I think ever since I was little and my mum wouldn't let me have a heeled pair, I've been dying to get a pair. Not quite sure how I'd wear them though? Probably rolled up jeans or black vintage levi shorts? Might have to try them on at work.

I think Office Shoes is a great company. I just think they always do such different styles to other shops and although they may be pricier they are usually leather upper and inners. Which makes such a huge difference to the comfort and the longevity  of the shoe. Also they usually do two options e.g black and tan so you can always find something to match your outfit.
Hope you like this post! I would love to know any hints or tips you have!
Love Marnie xx
