OUTFIT no.4: Super comfy OOTN

Hiya :)

Thought I would share what I wore to a very distant relative's birthday the other night. I went purely for the buffet, bar and so I wasn't stuck home alone haha. 

A very simple comfortable outfit where I tried to do the A/W transition with bar legs and summery heels dressed down with a cuddly jumper.

Felt really comfortable in this outfit and I liked the contrast with bare legs and summery heels with the big jumper, which is actually a bottle green colour but hasn't come up like that in photos :(

I got a new camera and was so excited to use it but my photos look worse than when i just used my iphone D: will have to have a play around see where I'm going wrong!

Alexander Wang for Balenciaga Autumn Ready to Wear

Alexander Wang became the creative director of Balenciaga earlier this year. I especially love these pieces from his Autumn ready to wear collection. I love all the textures especially the camo style puffy jackets which give a nod towards the military trend. I was really intrigued by the cracked concrete style tops which are a knit which has been painted. This reminded me of Maison Martin Margiela's previous work. 

I think clashing textures is going to be huge this Autumn/Winter - I'm going to be mixing leather, fur, fluffy knits, lace etc. I'm going to do a few posts on winter's trends because I've been struggling to know what to buy in this transitional period. Hopefully that will get me inspired. Can't wait for cold weather now! Summer is well and truly over.

BANKSY Cross Stitch

Hello! 

I thought I would share another part of my college summer project I have done. For this I had to copy my favourite piece of art work in an entirely different material. This wasn't hard for me because I absolutely adore banksy! I debated doing some knitting or sewing of a banksy piece and in the end I did a cross stitch of my favourite banksy piece the terrorist throwing flowers. 

This did take me forever but I really enjoyed it and I think it looks really effective. I'm going to frame it and put it up as well because I just love the design and I think the cross stitch makes a really stark contrast between the original graffiti style image. I got the cross stitch chart from the lovely Alex at Hydrangea Girl who emailed it to me. I'm sure if you wanted it she would email it to you too!

OUTFIT no.3 : Isaac's

Hey!

Just wanted to share with you my outfit I wore out for drinks the other night with my old work friends at Isaac's on the Quay. Apart from the shoes the whole outfit cost around £8! Please excuse my face and dodgy photography - my mum is not the best behind the camera haha.

Shoes - Office £58

I felt really comfortable in this outfit, the shorts are a really flattering fit; I wasn't worried about sucking my tummy in or VPL or anything like that which was a lovely change. It was so good to wear these heels again, the colour makes me so happy!

Art & Design Foundation summer project

I'm due to start my foundation diploma in Art and Design next month and I've been set a summer project with lots of tasks to do, luckily I've nearly finished! 

Here's some of the things I have done:

Task - Read a magazine on a subject you know nothing about and make a response.

I flicked through a copy of my Grandad's bird magazine and was inspired by the cage imagery. I looked into Victorian cages and used continuous line to draw some ideas. I then made some fabric samples using tracing paper, free machine embroidery and reverse appliqué. I was really happy with how the fabric samples came out, cages, birds and feathers always inspire me, I even have a feather tattoo!

Task - Go for a familiar walk and record it in some way

For this I took my dogs on a walk around the fields and just collected bits of plants and then weaved them together. It was a nightmare to do and I brought a million bugs into the house haha. I think it looks better in photos than it does in person.

Task - Illustrate the idea of petrichor 

Petrichor means the smell of rain hitting the dry ground. I absolutely loathe this sample, hence why I cut it into three to sort of make it look a bit more 'arty'. Still hate it. Oh well! I used my machine to layer fabrics and do decorative stitching and free embroidery.

DIY inspiration: Rhinestone Friendship Bracelets

I love making woven friendship bracelets using embroidery thread. All these bracelets came from this amazing seller on etsy. They are made using vintage hardware and gems, but you could easily recreate something by sewing on old broken jewellery and chains. Summer may nearly be over, but something like this on your wrist would definitely prolong those summer vibes!

New in VINTAGE - charity shop and car boot

Hello! I thought I would show you guys what I got from a car boot sale this morning and the blouse I recently bought from a charity shop. I love vintage but I steer way clear of vintage shops because they are so expensive! So much good stuff to be found at your local car boot/charity shop for bargain prices.

I know its still August but I'm in love with the faux fur jacket. Its absolutely enormous on me (size XL) but I can't wait to wear it this winter, so big and cuddly.

Best of eBay no.2: TOPSHOP Astrix boot copies !!!

Hello!!

Long time no blog! I have been so busy with starting my new job and finishing my old one. I really am so sad that I've finished working as a Teaching Assistant. It was my dream job and I met some lovely people, and some amazing children. I'm struggling with my new job, but just hoping it gets better and I can get some more hours. 

Anyway in order to distract myself from my woes, I turn to shopping (as usual). I have been lusting over the Topshop Astrix boots for ages now. I just think they are so edgy but also really casual and understated. The perfect mix of a statement shoe and the "I haven't even tried" look because they are basically a heeled plimsoll. But rather than paying £40 I have been scouring ebay for a cheaper alternative for literal months. And bingo I've finally found a copy, I would be bold enough to say an identical copy, for just over HALF THE PRICE. eBay and your bargain knock offs, I salute you. 

Can you spot a difference? Because I can't!!

There are loads of sellers selling these for around £25 and a few quid extra for delivery. But they are such a good copy!! I wanted a pair in white but every pair has sold out in a 4, so I bought black anyway- they'll be great for winter. For that cheap I would get both colours. There's also a pair with black canvas and white soles which could be cool! Get these here here here here

OUTFIT no.2 : Heatwave

Hey!
How amazing has this weather been? Its been so hot where I am I've spent the whole weekend tanning and I'm proud to say i have tan lines! Woo! 

I am loving white at the moment so so so much! These shoes are new, as is the bag. I wasn't sure I would keep the bag but actually it goes with quite a lot and is sooo bright. I wore it to a 21st on Saturday night and everyone was like woaaahhhhh so bright. So I'll probably keep it for that reason! You can't go wrong with neon, white and a tan this summer!

This is the kind of outfit I would love to wear on a night out! White is quite brave, also its impossible to keep it clean, but I think its so worth the risk as it looks so clean and bright. And I'm converted to white high heels, after thinking they were for strippers for as long as I can remember. These are an identical copy of a pair called Oxygen from Office which were around £65 but now sold out. Bargain! They also come in black which would go with loads of stuff. 

In other news I had my taster day at college today for foundation diploma in Art and Design, and had a really really good time. Met some lovely people and did a fun painting task. Feeling so positive now got lots to look forward to! I also managed to get tickets to see Arctic Monkeys (my all time favourite band EVER) in October at Earls Court and I still haven't come down from that high! Life is spectacular!

London weekend in Instagrams

4. Goldsmith's Vintage and Garden Bar and Grill at Portobello, 5. Sex on the Beach at the Cornershop in Shoreditch, 6. Journey home.

This weekend I visited my oldest, bestest friend in London. She lives just off Old Street so it was really central and we could walk most places. 

We went to the vintage markets on Brick Lane, Spitalfields and Portobello Market on Saturday and then out for drinks in Shoreditch on Saturday night. 

On Sunday we biked around Hyde Park on the Barclays bikes. Then we did a bit of shopping down Oxford Street. 

I wish I had taken more pictures but lots of the stall holders were really funny about people taking photos of their stock! Such a shame.

Such a lovely weekend! So nice to get out of the routine and out of Ipswich for a change. Going to London always makes me so happy. I can't wait to spend two weeks there in the summer for an internship!

DIY men's gold chain bracelet to necklace

Hello :)

I got this bracelet originally to use on my box clutch DIY but it wasn't long enough for a wrist strap. I always just assume men's bracelets will be enormous but this one wasn't sadly. (I got it off eBay for £2.99 including delivery).

I'm a big fan of the gold statement jewellery around at the moment. Everyday I wear my gold Marc by Marc Jacobs watch and gold midi rings and stacking rings- i feel lost without them. I thought I would use this bracelet to make a similar more daintier version of the chunky chain necklaces about at the moment.

Here's my step by step DIY. It's super easy to do using any old men's gold chain bracelet.

Sorry about the images being all different shades; I took a couple at another time of the day. 

I'm really happy with mine it makes a statement but it isn't too in your face like some of the necklaces at the moment. I think you could wear it day or night.
