OUTFIT no.2 : Heatwave

Hey!
How amazing has this weather been? Its been so hot where I am I've spent the whole weekend tanning and I'm proud to say i have tan lines! Woo!
I am loving white at the moment so so so much! These shoes are new, as is the bag. I wasn't sure I would keep the bag but actually it goes with quite a lot and is sooo bright. I wore it to a 21st on Saturday night and everyone was like woaaahhhhh so bright. So I'll probably keep it for that reason! You can't go wrong with neon, white and a tan this summer!

necklace - ebay
mesh crop top - New Look (sale/diy)
skirt - Boohoo
neon bag - TK Maxx
heels - ebay
lips - MUA Power Pout in Justify under Barry M Lip Paint 154
nails - OPI Nail Envy matte
earrings - Spangle
tan - NATURAL (for once)

This is the kind of outfit I would love to wear on a night out! White is quite brave, also its impossible to keep it clean, but I think its so worth the risk as it looks so clean and bright. And I'm converted to white high heels, after thinking they were for strippers for as long as I can remember. These are an identical copy of a pair called Oxygen from Office which were around £65 but now sold out. Bargain! They also come in black which would go with loads of stuff.

In other news I had my taster day at college today for foundation diploma in Art and Design, and had a really really good time. Met some lovely people and did a fun painting task. Feeling so positive now got lots to look forward to! I also managed to get tickets to see Arctic Monkeys (my all time favourite band EVER) in October at Earls Court and I still haven't come down from that high! Life is spectacular!

Thanks for reading, lots of love!

DIY men's gold chain bracelet to necklace

Hello :)

I got this bracelet originally to use on my box clutch DIY but it wasn't long enough for a wrist strap. I always just assume men's bracelets will be enormous but this one wasn't sadly. (I got it off eBay for £2.99 including delivery).

I'm a big fan of the gold statement jewellery around at the moment. Everyday I wear my gold Marc by Marc Jacobs watch and gold midi rings and stacking rings- i feel lost without them. I thought I would use this bracelet to make a similar more daintier version of the chunky chain necklaces about at the moment.

Here's my step by step DIY. It's super easy to do using any old men's gold chain bracelet.

Sorry about the images being all different shades; I took a couple at another time of the day.

I'm really happy with mine it makes a statement but it isn't too in your face like some of the necklaces at the moment. I think you could wear it day or night.

Let me know if you have a go at making this, I'd love to see your necklaces!

Thanks for reading and hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

Styling - Blurred Lines - Robin Thicke ft. T.I and Pharrell

Not only is this song ridiculously catchy but the styling of the video is insane! The stylist, (whoever it is I don't know, and if anyone does know can they tell me?) has absolutely nailed it! The three smoking hot girls are wearing white crop tops, bra tops, pants, shorts, with clear PVC shorts, dresses, tops over the top. With loads of gold accessories including scrunchies (!!!), layered chains, bangles, belts and some crazy platform shoes.
Just amazing!

(All pics from google)

Going to need to make a gold scrunchie pretty soon too. And where can I find me a clear PVC top?

DIY Inspiration : Box Clutch

Today I found a box clutch in a charity shop which I snapped up for £3. Its a great shape and I'm just thinking about all the things I could do to it. Here's some clutches inspiring me at the moment:

All Lanvin apart from the green (Burberry) and the yellow (Kenzo). (All images sourced from google)

Recently I've bought loads of new pencil skirts and crop tops for nights out . This summer I especially love the white and colour block trends. My favourites are a white pencil skirt and a white crop top with mesh sleeves with thin strappy heels and a bold lip. I think gold and white looks so good together, so I'm definitely going to add a thick gold curb chain wrist strap to the box clutch like the Lanvin ones above.
I'm also loving the lion and tiger imagery which is about at the moment, especially from Kenzo. I think it really adds some personality!

DIY simple gold chain necklace inspired by Maja Ravn

Hello!
Long time no post! I just logged on and realised that I have nearly 4000 page views and my blog's been viewed in Canada, India, Netherlands and lots of other countries. That absolutely blows my mind!
So now I'm on half term holidays (the perks of working in a school), I thought I would do lots more posts.

Firstly I was inspired by one of my favourite bloggers Maja Ravn who bought these lovely gold necklaces.
(Photos are all from her blog, find them here)

I loved the simplicity of these, and I wear a lot of gold jewellery which sometimes can look a bit OTT and take over the outfit. But these looked really elegant and simple, so I thought I'd give it a go and make my own!

Now Majas' are two separate necklaces of different weights, but I could see these beginning to tangle up, so I used  two identical gold chains that I already had. I removed the clasp and jump rings from one chain and cut it slightly shorter, so it would hang higher on the neck than the other chain. I then opened up the jump rings from the other chain and added the shorter chain; so i had the ends of two chains in one jump ring, which then was attached to the clasp, to make one necklace, (if that makes sense).

Anyway I'm really happy with it and I've worn it lots! I especially like how the chain I used is a really sparkly chain so it really catches the light and makes it more eyecatching.

Let me know what you think and if you think I should include step by step photos of how I make things. I do intend to I just always end up getting carried away and making things then forget I could have blogged about it!

Thanks for reading and hope you are enjoying the bank holiday sun :)

DIY neon box clutch - from a VHS case

Hello lovelies!
So tonight I thought I would share a little DIY I did inspired by the amazing box clutches from Zara and Ivania Carpio from LOVE AESTHETICS see her original post click here.
Photo from LOVE AESTHETICS

I found this bag in a charity shop for £2 which I thought was quite steep considering the unconventional colour, I thought they would be giving it away. It is a weird sulfur yellow/lime green colour but I was instantly drawn to it, and thought I would make an American Apparel style slouchy pouch.
But I then remembered the Zara clutches I saw online and Ivania's DIY and I had to try and make a box clutch from a old video casette case. Here's how I did it:
  1. Get your video case (charity shops are practically giving these away at the moment because no one uses them anymore, mine was 10p); Take out the paper sleeve thingy and rip of the plastic (so satisfying). Mine was Philadelphia. Anyone seen it? No me neither.
  2. Unpick the seams of the bag so you have nice flat pieces of fabric to work with.
  3. Open the video out flat, lay it onto the wrong side of the fabric and draw round it, adding a 5 mm border for folding in the edges. Cut out- remember its better to make it too big than too small!
  4. Whack out the glue gun and get sticking. This was tricky with my fabric because it was that really thin stretchy fake leather. Very annoying and it was tricky to get it flat and tight, but we got there in the end.
  5. I went all the way around the case and then folded in the edges. This was the hard bit and it did get quite untidy, and I did burn my fingers many times!
  6. Because the edges were really messy I decided to stick on a contrasting black and gold zip from an old top around the middle to cover the edges. I cut it to size and then glued that on top. I then cut the matching pull thing (?) from the zip and glued that onto the gold zip to tie it all in together.

I took it out that night and wore it with black leather panel knicker shorts from River Island, a black top and a kimono from Primark. I thought it added a nice colour pop which was what I wanted!
Even though it was really tricky at some times it did turn out ok and I would definitely use video cassettes again to make clutches. I got lots of compliments on it and actually in my drunken state I surprisingly didn't tip it all my stuff out of it (it has been known). I think its just because of the fabric I chose that it was tricky. It was just the right size for my purse, lipstick and phone.

Here's a pic of me and some friends enjoying the bright lights of Ipswich... or not. Really awful photo, but the flash showed the bag's colour well!

Thanks for taking the time to read this!
Happy Easter!
